Autumn is all about colorful foliage, crunchy leaves, warm drinks, and cool breezes. It’s about change — seasonal and personal. The calmer, quieter season brings opportunities for fall festivals, pumpkin patches, farmers’ markets, autumn hikes, and so much more. Head to Prince George’s to indulge in your favorite fall moments.

Try out one (or all!) of these 10 Prince George’s fall activities:

  1. Head to Montpelier Farms for its annual fall festival. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, visitors can explore the seven-acre corn maze, take a hayride, play barnyard basketball, finish a scavenger hunt, and so much more. Don’t forget to choose a few pumpkins from the patch on your way out.
  2. Take the kids to visit a real farm. Old Maryland Farm gives visitors a closer look at regional agriculture, farm animals, and gardening — and it also happens to be an excellent spot for some fall family photos.
  3. Bring home a basket of fall vegetables from the Riverdale Park Farmers Market. On Thursday afternoons, vendors head to Rhode Island Avenue to sell their produce and products.
  4. Hop on a horse and explore the trails in Prince George’s with Piscataway Trails in Clinton. Drop by the site on the weekends for the hour-long trip and ride your way through the fall colors.
  5. Enjoy a seasonal brew from Denizens Brewing Co. in Riverdale Park. All the beer is brewed in Maryland, and the happy hours run every weekday afternoon. Check the menu to see which brews will hit the taproom in the fall.
  6. Walk or bike the trails along this 38-acre lake at Lake Artemesia in Berwyn Heights. You can reach the park through the Paint Branch Trail, and then you’ll be free to explore the aquatic gardens as the leaves change.
  7. Take a trip to Queen Anne Farm in Mitchellville for a true pumpkin patch experience. Wander through the fields of brightly colored mums and shapely pumpkins, visit the Pumpkin House for photos, and pick up a carving kit.
  8. Discover the wonders of the natural world in the fall at the Clearwater Nature Center in Clinton’s Cosca Regional Park. Park naturalists share environmental education through seasonal gardens, live animal exhibits, and more.
  9. Beautify your space with the help of the Patuxent Nursery in Bowie. Check out the calendar for helpful events or learn from the experts about the fall plants that would work for you.
  10. Tour the farm animal sanctuary at The Big Purple Barn in Bowie. The organization rescues horses and other farm animals, and a visit to the location provides a chance to get up close and personal with the creatures.
